"Protesting is a niche activity," said Prof. Michael Kazin, co-author of "America Divided: The Civil War of the 1960's." "There are some people who do drama, some people who do protest, other people who drink too much."

That seems to be right to me, from what I've seen on campus. It seems like the same group of people is protesting this war as protested Afghanistan. It's the same group that protests "globalization" when no war is imminent.

These people seem to prefer the act of protesting to careful consideration of what is being protested, and that's a shame. This country needs people to point out excesses in the world, and the thousands of people that are willing to stand up for dictators will tend to drown out people who are making important points.
