→ http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/news/6946431.htm This year's Nobel prize for Medicine was won by American Paul C. Lauterbur and Briton Sir Peter Mansfield. I have a small personal connection with Dr. Lauterbur's work, which was done at Stony Brook, where I am a graduate student. The original MRI machine (then called NMR) is on display in the lobby of one of the buildings on campus, along with images from his original paper. I used to walk past it every day on the way from class to my car. It's surprisingly small, for such an important discovery. So, congrats to this year's winners. - Tom | permalink | changelog | Last updated: 2003-10-06 14:05 Previous Entry | Home | Next Entry Comments Commenting has been suspended due to spam. |
