According to Hobbsonline, Sao Tome has a large reserve of oil... about a quarter of that of Saudi Arabia. According to the CIA world factbook, it's a democracy, with the last presidential electionb being held in 2001, and and thea new prime minister as of 2002.

A functioning democracy, and the potential to be an economic power. I wish them the best of luck.
